Cryotherapy
What is Cryotherapy?

A treatment to remove benign skin lesions. It uses nitrous oxide to destroy the tissue by freezing the cells fluid which in turn forms ice shards that rupture the cell membrane in turn destroying the cell and the lesion. It has millimetre precision so normal, healthy tissue is unaffected.

How long does the treatment take to work?

The treatment itself is very quick. It can treat a small skin tag in as little as 10 seconds. The lesion will usually be gone in 14 days but a further treatment may be needed if not.

How many treatments are required?

This depends on the type of lesion. Most lesions usually only need 1 treatment but a verruca can take upto 5 treatments.

Is it painful?

There is usually little or no discomfort but you may feel a cold sensation or a little stinging which usually resolves after a few minutes.

What about aftercare?

There is very little downtime after treatment. Occasionally a blister or scab will form over the lesion. All that is required is to use SPF on the lesion for 2 weeks until the skin returns to normal.
